Home Front

I know I haven't kept to my blog schedule recently. I will come fall, though, Scout's honor. Sidenote: I used to think that "Scout's Honor" had something to do with Scout from To Kill A Mockingbird. You know how when you're a kid and you recognize a word in conversation and apply the meaning to something you already know? Was that just me? Anyway, she was my favorite book character when I was kid, and she still is. Well, the list has grown to Wilbur from Charlotte's Web, Teensy from The Divine Secrets of the Ya-Ya Sisterhood, Marlena from Water for Elephants, and Leo King from South of Broad to name a few. I digress...

The hubs and I are ready for a change in our house. The problem, that most people have as well, is we are on a budget. We can't buy anything too expensive like furniture. So, DIY it is!! Personally, I think paint is the cheapest way to spruce up a place without breaking the bank. We are thinking about going all white in the common areas. We already have black doors and love the look of white walls and black interior doors. I know that it sounds very Beetlejuice but with our warm Brazillian cherry hardwood floors, antique furniture, and colorful accents I think it'd look so fresh. My honey is a little concerned that white walls will look like an apartment that you can't paint, so I'm determined to add character in anyway that I can.

I'd love to keep the closed rooms (master, office, and bathrooms) painted with muted but cozy colors. I feel like the common area needs to be fresh and open, but I want the master bedroom to feel cozy and the office to feel energetic. So, I'm going to stop by the hardware store and get some ideas for colors. I can't wait, I love thinking about design and color.

I'd love to hear about your design ideas. Let me hear it! Problems, dreams, ongoing projects...

Under Construction

Well, I'm so sorry for all the template changes. I've been trying out the new Template Designer with Blogspot and trying to find one that will look great with my new logo. I will unveil that later this week. I can't wait for y'all to see it! It's so pretty and sweet, details to come.

I also have a beach post to bring with photos and everything! Aren't you excited?

Till then...

Sorry

I just can't keep up darn it! Let's just say that the blogging schedule that I was so excited about for like two weeks, will resume full force this fall. For the rest of the summer I will commit to updates and photos as they come.

I'm getting ready to head to the beach with Jeremy this afternoon!! I'll be there all next week, but Jer will have to come back home Sunday because of the new job. I'm sad that we'll be apart (I really don't like being separated) but I'm so excited about spending time with family and friends all week. Oh, and reading. I can't tell you how freakin' stoked I am to bring some books with me and dive in! So here's a list of the fun people who'll be down at the beach with me next week:

Mom & Dad
Mamasita & Pops (Jer's Parents)
Anna & her peeps, Susan, Rachel, and Kirsten
Greg, Holly, Luke & Dominic (Jer's brother, sister-in-law, and our nephews; they leave tomorrow)
Mike & Candi (surrogate Uncle & Aunt)
Justin & Candace (surrogate cousin & his beautiful wife)
Taylor & Girlfriend (other surrogate cousin & his girlfriend who's name escapes me, sorry)

Yes, we are that group on the beach that has like a million umbrellas and chairs. Who cares? We have a blast! Laughing, playing paddle ball, swimming, drinking, tanning, etc. Sunset is my favorite place in the world. Just getting on 17 South brings relaxation to my soul.

I promise to have photos when I return. Have a wonderful weekend and week, enjoy life!

Today

Hey gurl, hey! Christie's Bachelorette party! Now, she's just an old married lady.

Silly Grace Elizabeth making a silly face.

Silly brother making a silly face.

Jeremy and I with Luke at the Black Rose Bar in Boston. Luke's first Guiness (just kidding, Jeremy wouldn't let him have some of his beer)

So, I know I haven't been a good blogger. I'm sorry. I have no new pictures because the batteries on my camera are charging which is why I have oldies up there. Here are some bullet points to let you in on my life this past week (if you care):
  • I have been cleaning like crazy because we're going to the beach this weekend and I won't have my Saturday to do that.
  • I am so excited to head to the beach next week (July 16) for a WHOLE WEEK! I haven't done that in a long time. Unfortunately, Jeremy can't join me for the whole week. I will have fun with the family, but I will be sad and a little pathetic.
  • The dogs are getting along marvelously. The little one continues to pee in his crate when he is left at home for too long (while we're at work, but funny enough, not at night). He hasn't gone in the house for like 4 days (knock on wood), so that's progress.
  • Jeremy started his new job yesterday. We're so thankful for this blessing and I'm just praying that he enjoys this job rather than dread it and only go because of the paycheck.
  • We had a great 4th of July weekend. We got to watch the Raleigh fireworks from the golf course of the NC State Faculty Club. Perfect weather, gorgeous sunset, fireworks, lemon tarts, and beer. Perfection!!
  • I miss my brother. He moved to TN/MS two weeks ago and I already miss his silly face.
Ok, so now I'm going to go and finish cleaning my house. I hope these photos make you laugh. I think that sometime in the near future, I will scan in some OLD photos so you can see me and Jeremy as kids and get a laugh out of our amazing wardrobe choices.

Have a wonderful week! Peace.

Loss of Faith...

In humanity.
There are times when people are mean. Just mean and immature. I should be in a great mood: it's my favorite day, a long weekend is ahead, and the weather is great! However, because of some people that surround me, I am tired and pissed off. I just don't understand how some people refuse to be sweet and kind, like we're called to be. The Lord calls us to love each other and have compassion and respect for our fellow man. This week and today, multiple times and from different people, I have seen a complete void of love.
I am fighting it though. Even though I'm defeated inside, I'm still presenting a cheery front so that evil does not win. I will not let a couple of insensitive people cause me to be insensitive to someone else. No one deserves that.

I am thankful that God's mercies are new each morning. Tomorrow will be a fresh day and hopefully much kinder.

With that, I hope you all have a wonderful, safe, and fun weekend celebrating this great nation of ours that allows people to be as mean or as happy as they want. I hope you'll choose the latter!

Happy 4th of July!!
